Get Answers to Your Eyelash Extension Questions

If you are tired of applying mascara in the hope that you will have fuller, longer eyelashes, you may want to consider eyelash extensions. If you are unfamiliar with lash extensions, you may have some questions. To help you better understand the cosmetic treatment, our San Diego esthetician, Vicky Larsen, has provided answers to some of the frequently asked questions about eyelash extensions.

Just reading these answers may still leave you wondering if eyelash extensions are right for you. If you are considering eyelash extensions, schedule a free consultation at Clean Slate Waxing located in Banker’s Hill.

What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are single, synthetic lashes that are individually attached to your existing eyelashes to create full, lush lashes. At Clean Slate Waxing, we use NaturaLashâ„¢ eyelash extensions because they are high-quality products that add length and fullness to your existing lashes.

Are there problems when the lash extensions grow out?

Eyelash extensions need to “refilled” every two to five weeks. This process allows your esthetician to remove loose lashes or extensions that have grown out and replace them with new extensions as needed. As long as your esthetician is properly trained in applying eyelash extensions, there should be no issues during this process.

What is the difference between false eyelashes and lash extensions?

False eyelashes are a full set of eyelashes that are attached to the end of your eyelid as one unit. Eyelash extensions are individual lashes and are attached to your eyelashes, not your eyelid.

Can I get extensions if I have little or no eyelashes?

Eyelash extensions need to be attached to your existing eyelashes. If you do not have eyelashes, you will not be able to get eyelash extensions. If you have sparse eyelashes, lash extensions can give you a fuller look, but must be applied carefully by a fully trained NaturaLash® technician.

Will lash extensions make my own eyelashes fall out?

Your natural eyelashes will typically shed (with or without extensions) every 30 to 120 days. If applied correctly, eyelash extensions should not affect this normal shedding process.

Can I still wear mascara?

Having eyelash extensions will reduce your need to wear mascara. However, if you wish to continue to wear mascara, Vicky can tell you about a special mascara made for eyelash extensions.
